German electronic music producer Michal Matlak returns to Dario & Marco Zenker's Ilian Tape label for a third outing as MPU101. 'MPU103' continues to mine that evocative, hazy Boards of Canada sound that many have tried to imitate. MPU101 successfully nails it, with the tracks feeling like recovered childhood memories of endless summers on sun-warped celluloid. Folks yearning for a new Boards of Canada album could do much worse than filling that void here.
